Why do I get an error while making a payment to my TBanque Money account?
These are the two main reasons why you get an error while making a payment to your TBanque Money account:
- Your bank still requires 11 characters for the BIC (Bank Identification Code), and the BIC you entered is only 8 digits long.
To resolve this, add uppercase XXX (3 Xs) to the end of your BIC (e.g. CFTEMTM1XXX).
The BIC helps identify the bank you are sending money to. Most banks now accept shorter 8 character BICs; however certain banks still use slightly older systems requiring 11 character BICs. The extra 3 characters are used to identify the bank branch, and since there are so many new digital payment providers which do not have a branch, we add XXX instead.
- When asked to select a country along with your IBAN number you selected your country.
Please ensure that you select Malta, because our bank account is located there.
Most banks automatically recognise the country of the IBAN, but some still ask you to enter it manually.
